History:
Forestry engineering began to be taught in 1920 at Czech Technical University in Prague. In 1951 the Faculty of Forestry was fouded and in 1952 it became a part of Czech University of Agriculture. In 1964 the faculty had been closed and in 1990 newly opened. The professors Szalatnay, Nechleba, Jirsík, Pfeffer, Šámal, Bubák, Peklo, Kavina, Příhoda, Černý and Kalina were the most famous personalities of the Department of Forest Protection and Game Management.
Focus:
The Department of Forest Protection and Entomology is specialized on forest protection - i.e. forest entomology and forest pathology - as it is clear from the title.
Educational activity:
There is a lot of subjects based on the main fields,They are taught in various mutations depending on study programme and faculty. Except of forest entomology and pathology, there are studied zoology, mycology, plant pathology and abiotic environmental influences.
Research activity:
The research activity of the Department is closely adherent to the tuition. There are also several personal activities of the Deparment´s members (Biology Olympics, Safari International Club etc.) and some project of postgraduate students too.
International contacts:
The Deparment has established the cooperation with the National Forestry Centre in Slovakia.
