Dr Walter Wenzel of BOKU Vienna receives honorary professorship from CULS Prague
Associated Professor Dr Walter Wenzel of the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, Austria, has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor (Prof.h.c.) by the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CULS), Czech Republic, at a ceremony which was held at CULS on 7 July 2009.
Associate Professor, Doctor Walter Wenzel has been a guest professor at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague since 2004.
He has carried out important research in the fields of rhizosphere ecology and biogeochemistry, in fytoremediation of soil, contaminated by inorganic as well organic pollutants, fractionisation and speciation of trace elements, arsenic in soil, plant and environment, hypercumulation of heavy metals and metalloids in plants, analytical chemistry of soil with the application of ICP-MS, monitoring of soil contamination and risk assessment.
Dr Wenzel has published over 181 scientific works and is the holder of two patents. He is author or co-author of 54 scientific papers, most having been published in impacted journals. His work has been cited more than 800 times.
Dr Wenzel is one of the top world specialists in his field. His personal character, his honesty and his willingness to help and assist are an inspiration for all of us - in particular, of course, his colleagues and friends at the Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources of CULS Prague.
Senior members of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague attended the award ceremony. The Prof.h.c. title was presented to Associate Professor Dr Walter Wenzel by the Vice Rector for International Relations, Prof. Pavel Kovar, on behalf of the CULS Prague Rector.
