For a second year in a row, the European Commission has launched together with the governments of Australia, Japan and the Republic of Korea a multi-country call for proposals.
The purpose of this call is to support international curriculum development projects that involve balanced short term student and faculty mobility between the EU and the partner ICI countries. Its objective is to promote transparency, mutual recognition of qualifications and periods of study, research and training, and portability of credits.
Applicant consortia must comprise of at least 3 Higher Education and/or vocational institutions from 3 different EU Member States and at least 2 institutions from the Partner Country. Selected consortia will set up a framework for student mobility whereby EU students will typically spend one semester in the Partner Country institution and vice versa with full recognition of the study period abroad by the home institution.
Funding
The budget available from the EU side for the co-financing of projects is approximately EUR 2.5 million. It is anticipated that up to 9 projects will be selected for funding under this call: three to four EU - Australia projects, one to two EU – Japan projects and three to four EU- Korea projects.
The European partner institutions in each selected Joint Mobility project will be funded from the EU side with a maximum amount of EUR 425,000 over a 3-year period. The authorities in the partner countries will provide additional funding to their national institutions in the selected projects. EU funding will include mobility grants for students and faculty members, as well as flat rates/fixed amounts for administering the project.
