Invitation for International Week
at the Faculty of Engineering
University of Southern Denmark
7 to 11 April 2 008

Spring 2007 Participants
University of Southern Denmark invites colleagues from partner universities twice a year, to visit their Faculty of Engineering, give lectures and network internationally. The International Week offers a general, thematic programme with ample opportunity to learn more about and discuss issues such as the problem/project based learning approach.
For the spring semester the theme will be Formula Student Cross Cultural Student Dynamics. The organizers will introduce and discuss a form of teaching which is characteristic of the Faculty of Engineering project based learning.
Formula Student is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in England and includes teams of university students from all over the world. The teams are challenged to design, build and market a singleseater racing car and the goal is to participate in the international Formula Student competition on the Silverstone race circuit in England.
The Formula Student project at the University of Southern Denmark is an international programme and all communication is in English. It is run as a 'minicompany' by the students and the focus is on the students' ability to cooperate across cultures and academic disciplines.
Monday and Wednesday are theme days.
Wednesday - an international study fair at which we would very much like you to present your university and study programmes to our students.
Participation in the International Week is free and includes lunches, guided tour, dinner Wednesday and accommodation provided for you to stay at the guest house or, if fully booked, at CabInn. If you prefer to stay at a hotel, we will be glad to help you make the reservations, but we cannot offer to pay for the rooms.
If you would like to participate in this International Week, please forward your CV or information on special interests together with the enclosed registration form to:

Janne Valdgĺrd Petersen, International Relations Coordinator, Project Unit, Faculty of Engineering, writes:
Dear Partners,
We are looking forward to welcome you and your colleagues here at the Faculty of Engineering for a full week or just three days, whichever is most convenient for you.
Also, we would like to use this opportunity to thank our guests from 2007 it was two very pleasant weeks, during which we welcomed some 37 colleagues from 13 different countries. I have enclosed a picture from the International Week in spring 2007.
For 2008, the International Week is scheduled for 7 - 11 April 2008 in the spring semester and 17 - 21 November 2008 in the autumn semester.
Please note that although we will do our best to arrange full academic programmes for all our guests, we cannot promise to do so. This will depend on whether the field of expertise can be integrated into our teaching/project work. However, it will still be possible to take part in the more general programme and to network with colleagues from around the world.
I would also like to draw your attention to our new English taught degree programme: Product Development and Innovation
For the future, we plan to offer this programme as an exchange programme as well as as a master degree programme.
